The plain-language terms.

By booking a StandIn, you're agreeing to the terms below. We've tried to write them the way we'd actually explain them to a friend.

What StandIn is.

StandIn connects customers who want to skip a physical wait with a vetted StandIn who holds their place in line, then hands it off when the customer arrives. StandIn is a small NYC pilot; availability, lines covered, and pricing may change as it grows.

Booking and pricing.

Pricing is $25 per hour, prorated, with a minimum of $25 and a cap of $99 per booking. The final price is calculated by our server based on your requested duration — never set client-side. You approve the price before payment is taken.

When you're charged.

You are never charged before a StandIn has accepted your request. Once accepted, your reservation is held for 5 minutes while you complete payment. If payment isn't completed in that window, we continue searching for a match and you are not charged.

Refunds.

If we don't cover your line as described — a StandIn doesn't show, loses your place, or the job otherwise fails to happen — you get a full refund. No forms required; contact us and we'll resolve it, typically same day.

Cancellations.

You can cancel a request before a StandIn accepts at no charge. Once a StandIn has accepted and payment is complete, contact us as soon as possible if your plans change — refunds for a customer-initiated cancellation after acceptance are handled case by case.

Your responsibilities.

Show up at or before the time your StandIn indicates, treat your StandIn with respect, and follow the instructions of the venue/line you're joining. StandIn does not guarantee entry, inventory, tickets, or availability at any venue — we hold your place in line; what happens once you reach the front is between you and the venue.

StandIn conduct.

Every StandIn is identity-verified before their first job. If a StandIn behaves inappropriately or fails to perform the job as described, tell us — we take it seriously and it affects their ability to keep working with us.

Liability.

StandIn is not affiliated with, and does not guarantee outcomes at, any venue, store, or event mentioned on our site or in our app. Our responsibility is limited to the service we describe: holding and handing off a place in line, and refunding you fully if we fail to do that.

Changes.

As an early pilot, these terms may change as the product grows. We'll update the date below when they do.

Governing law.

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York.
