SMS Terms
What we text, and why.
StandIn's SMS messaging policy — verification codes, booking updates, and application messages, each its own program. Never marketing.
Last updated: July 2026.
StandIn sends SMS through a few distinct programs.
Each is tied to something you specifically did, and each is described separately below. None of them are marketing.
Phone verification.
One-time verification codes used to authenticate a phone number in the StandIn iOS app when you sign in or create a booking history. This is a separate, authentication-only messaging program — it never sends booking or application messages. See our SMS Verification & Consent page for the full opt-in flow.
Booking-related service messages.
If you submit a line request, you may receive transactional updates tied to that specific request or booking as it moves along (for example: matched, confirmed, completed).
StandIn application messages.
If you apply to become a StandIn, you may receive messages related to that application, including follow-up and scheduling.
We do not send marketing messages through this program.
StandIn does not use this SMS program for promotions, newsletters, or marketing campaigns. Every message you receive is tied to something you specifically did — a verification, a request, or an application.
Message frequency.
Frequency varies based on your activity. A phone verification is typically one message. A booking in progress may generate a few messages as it moves along (matched, confirmed, completed). We do not send recurring or scheduled messages outside of that.
Message and data rates.
Message and data rates may apply, depending on your mobile carrier and plan. StandIn does not charge you for these messages — any charges come from your carrier.
How to opt out.
Reply STOP to any message from StandIn at any time to stop receiving further messages. You can also request removal by contacting us directly (see our Account Deletion page). Opting out of SMS does not cancel an active booking — use the app or contact us for that.
How to get help.
Reply HELP to any message from StandIn, or reach us directly — see the contact info on our Trust & Safety page.
Consent is not a condition of purchase.
You do not have to agree to receive SMS messages to use StandIn's core service. Phone verification is required to secure your booking (so it can be recovered and so a StandIn can be matched to a real, reachable person), but you're never required to opt into promotional messaging — because there isn't any.
