Our story
Why I built StandIn
People were not paying to avoid a line. They were paying to get their time back.
In New York, waiting in line is almost part of the culture. Restaurants, bakeries, pop ups, product drops, people give up hours just to hold a spot.
I had done it myself: more than two hours at Kasama in Chicago, then nearly three for Pokémon cards for my boyfriend. There had to be a better way.
I did not want people to miss out on the places they were excited about. I wanted to give them back the hours they would otherwise spend waiting.
StandIn is starting in New York City, one line and one customer at a time.
