How it works

Here's exactly how this goes.

No app download, no subscription, no fine print surprises. A person holds your place, you take it back. Details below.

  1. 01

    You request.

Tell us the line, the place, the time. A human replies with a yes or an honest no, and a price. During the pilot, requests placed a day ahead almost always get covered. Same-day is a coin flip and we'll tell you straight.

  2. 02

    We match.

Your StandIn gets your instructions. If you need two croissants and not one, this is when we lock that in.

  3. 03

    They wait, you watch.

Your StandIn texts you when they're in line, roughly where they are in it, and when you should start heading over, so you never wonder if anyone's actually there.

  4. 04

    The swap.

You walk up, say hi, and take your place. Swaps are normal in NYC lines and your StandIn handles it politely. For venues with rules about line holding, we follow the venue's rules, and we'll flag it during booking if a specific line is a no-go.

  5. 05

    Payment.

$25/hour, $25 minimum, capped at $99. Your card is charged only once a StandIn accepts the line. StandIn flaked or lost the spot? You pay nothing.

The honest limits

  • We can't guarantee a store won't sell out or a bouncer will like your shoes. We guarantee your place in line, not what's at the front of it.

  • Some lines cap, wristband, or prohibit holding spots. We'll tell you before you pay, not after.

  • We're a pilot. Some days we're fully booked. Waitlist members hear about openings first.
